From the information stated in this article we can see that Canada
is in 4th place for downloading music on Bit torrent which is the
largest file sharing system. The USA was number 1st of course in
downloading music on BitTorrent. This article states that the USA is pushing
Canada to become stricter on its piracy policies. I don't think being bullied
by USA really helps motivate us seeing that they are number one for
downloading. The article also show the correlation with countries that have the
highest broadband use where Canada and the United States do not come close to
the top five. So really what does motivate people in North America to download
so much? It doesn't seem like a national crisis for Canadians and if the
problem really doesn't effect to many people I don't see why the government
should spend the peoples tax money on an issue half the population probably
doesn't know about. “Canadians may complain about high internet bills, low
download limits and too few choices for providers, but that certainly isn’t
stopping people from illegally downloading songs like crazy.”
